AWAKEN THE DRAGON!
Join us for the Eye Dotting Ceremony as we officially kick off the Portland Rose Festival Dragon Boat Race season! 
March 29th, 2025
11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Outside King Tide Fish & Shell, Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel, Portland, OR
A Buddhist Master from Portland Miao Fa Temple will bless the dragon boats, and dignitaries will dot the eyes of the traditional-style dragon boats—symbolizing the awakening of the dragon. Witness a vibrant parade of dragon boats and a Portland Fire Boat display along the Willamette River! 
This free & public event marks the start of 12 weeks of thrilling races leading up to the Portland Rose Festival Dragon Boat Race in June!

Please meet at the Flag Circle before heading down to the dock.
Tiller’s have a very important job, both in steering a boat to victory and keeping those on the boat safe. Whether you are a new tiller, or just looking for more experience come join us for our 2 days of tiller training this season. See you on the water!
You may sign up for both Tiller Trainings. The cost of $20 is for one or both trainings.

The Portland Rose Festival Dragon Boat Race, Presented by the
PORTLAND-KAOHSIUNG SISTER CITY ASSOCIATION
invites you to come join the Race!
Race weekend is June 7-8 2025.
Teams can register for Women’s Division, Mixed Division, and Open Division.
Open to Local Teams and Out-of-Town Teams!
Mixed division races with up to 10 male paddlers.
Women’s requires all female paddlers.
Open has no gender restrictions.
Teams can have up to 29 members.
A race is 500 meters
A race boat has a caller, flag catcher, 20 paddlers, and a tiller.
The Portland Rose Festival Dragon Boat Race uses the incredibly beautiful traditional-style dragon boats on the Willamette River!
This amazing event has been part of the Portland Rose Festival each year since 1989.
